A number of our supporters have asked for a reminder
on how to make complaints about noisy and low-flying aircraft using Stansted Airport and this note is to advise you that if you
would like to understand the ‘rules’ about what constitutes a noisy
or off-track aircraft that details appear on the SSE website, together with a
link to a complaints form to BAA, at:
http://www.stopstanstedexpansion.com/how_to_complain.html
(the link to the form appears in the first line).
The complaints form ensures that BAA’s
Flight Evaluation Unit (FEU) has all the information required to carry out an
investigation. The detailed notes
which accompany the form explain how to complain, which incidents to complain
about and what happens next. It is
also important to ensure that BAA’s FEU fully
answers your complaint. If you need further advice on aircraft noise in
general or for a specific incident you can contact our SSE noise team through
the SSE office on info@stopstanstedexpansion.com.
Legitimate complaints send a signal to BAA about the
impact on the community of aircraft that break the rules – and in some
cases can result in offending airlines being fined. We do ask you, though, to ensure you complain
responsibly and do not abuse the system which could otherwise result in your
complaints being ignored by BAA.
In addition, if you’re interested to monitor
flight movements which have been particularly disturbing, this can be done
online (with a 24-48 hour delay) through BAA’s
new WebTrak system at:
www.stanstedairport.com/noise
(see ‘track flights’).
